Now we will discuss in brief about the above points.

1. Contact IOM Hospital for medical appointments:

Firstly, it is essential to contact the IOM hospital to schedule your medical appointments. This is a mandatory requirement for all immigrant visa applicants and must be completed before your interview. You can take medical appointments in three ways, either calling or sending medical appointment request, or registering through online form.

Before contacting the IOM hospital, you need get on your hands the information regarding your interview date and time, DV case number, full name/birth date/passport number/contact number of each applicant. Also ensure that you have enough balance recharged on your mobile for communication with IOM representatives, unless the communication might be interrupted. Such situation couldn't be considered as good manner.

Please refer the below information or visit the 'Contact' site of the IOM Hospital in Kathmandu'.

If you are booking through email, along with the details you need attached the scanned documents of- 2NL letter, passports of each applicant and Covid-19 Vaccination card. The IOM Hospital representatives will inform you regarding your medical date and time through calling or SMS or response through email. They will also inform you about the basic rules and regulations and procedures before appearing for medical check-up and also inform you about the tentative charge that is required for medical check-ups.

Generally you will get you medial report within 3 days of medical check-ups. If any issues occurred during medical check-ups, you will be notified through telephone. If serious medical complications or issues arise, then you are likely stay on hold for 56 days for re-medical check up process. Generally, the medical issues related to respiratory system is considered as highly concerning issues and rest of issues are considered as normal. So, don't panic regarding medical report, if you don't have any previous issues related to lungs or respiratory system.

2. Consult with your sponsor for necessary documents:

Secondly, it is advisable to consult with your sponsor regarding any necessary documents that you may need to bring to your interview. Your sponsor may have specific requirements or requests that you should be aware of. We recommend you to get the documents- welcome letter, tax return file (1040 form), citizenships or green card from your sponsor. We also suggest you to get the I-134 form (affidavit of support) from your sponsor if possible. The public charge issues are normal to DV related immigrants, however it is good idea to stay aware and well prepared with strong documents while appearing at the interview.

3. Get police clearance certificate:

Thirdly, obtaining a police clearance certificate is a crucial step in the visa application process. You should obtain this certificate from the appropriate authorities in your home country or your residing country. You can apply on 'Online Police Clearance Registration System' and creating account. After creating account log in the site and fill out the required information and necessary attachments like your birth certificate, both side of citizenships, PP size photo, marriage certificate, first and last page of passport etc. Then if any issues do not occurred, you will get your police clearance certificate within 3 days, or it takes more days on the basis of work load at police stations.

Who needs police certificates and what would be the circumstances of not obtaining the police certificates? If you are working in abroad or previously worked or visited to other countries, so how can you determine that whether the police certificate from respective countries is essential or not? Please refer the below video:

In case of Nepal, if any issues occurred after submission of the form for Police certificate. You can resolve the issues, for the guides, please watch the below video:

One important note regarding the police report obtained in Nepal through online is not necessary to further verify from Foreign Ministry office and no need any additional stamps. Just print in color using good paper is enough for the DV process.

4. Translate your documents from Notary public

For Diversity Visa (DV) winners who are applying for immigration to the United States, translation of documents from Notary Public may be required as part of the application process. This is because all documents submitted to the US government must be in English or accompanied by an English translation.

Notary Public is an official authorized by the government to certify and attest to the authenticity of documents. When you obtain a translation of your document from a Notary Public, it means that the Notary Public has verified the accuracy of the translation and has certified that the translation is a true and accurate representation of the original document.

In the context of DV winners, translation of documents from Notary Public may be required for various documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, educational documents, and police clearance certificates. These documents must be translated into English, and the translation must be certified by a Notary Public.

It is important to note that the translation of documents from Notary Public is not required for all DV winners. The requirement for translation depends on the specific document and the issuing authority. For example, some documents may be issued in English, while others may not require translation if they are issued by a government agency that provides translations in English. For proper notary translation you can watch the video, or get help from Gorkhey Online Service Center.

5. Photographs, other documents and financial management:

For the medical and interview you need to take PP size, that is 2/2 size photo of each applicant. For DV winners, a 2/2 photo is essential for several reasons. First, it is required as part of the medical examination process. The photo helps to confirm the identity of the applicant and is used to match the individual with their medical records.

Second, a 2/2 photo is also required for the visa interview. During the interview, the consular officer will verify the identity of the applicant and compare their appearance to the photo on file. If the applicant's appearance has changed significantly since the photo was taken, it could cause delays or even result in a denial of the visa application.

You need to prepare other documents like educational documents, working experience documents, photographs- if you are newly married after first DS-260 form submission etc. Pleaser refer a blog 'Interview Preparation and Instructions for DV Winners in Nepal' for more information regarding the required documents and interview fees.

For the financial management, except the general expenses, you have to prepare in average NRs. 35k for medical check-up and NRs. 40k for interview for each applicant. The rate will vary each year on the basis of currency rate and terms/condition of IOM hospital and US Embassy of Nepal.

DV2021 Case Processing update of Nepal (Up to 5 September 2021)

The fiscal year of the DV 2021 visa issuance process is coming to an end on September 30. In this context, there are clear indications that not even 60% of the DV 2021 visas will be issued through the regular process, which is a matter of concern for the winners of DV 2021. As you may know, the US government court has not been able to give a promising verdict in favor of any of the DV 2021 lawsuit proceedings. In this sense, there is a question mark over the possibility of getting a visa for those who spend a lot of money to participate in the lawsuits. In the year 2021, 3801 Nepalis were selected for the DV lottery program, which is the second-highest number of DV winning country in Asia. According to the DV Lottery Charts' data published on 1st September, 31% of the winners have so far received visas, with 531 receiving visas and 522 being interviewed. The details are briefly presented in the table below. Total DV Winners   3801
