I hope you learned a lot from previous articles on how to fill out the DS-260 form. If you are still in confusion about this topic, you can read about this in the link: Full instructions to fill up DS-260 form for DV process | What information is required for DS-260 form before submitting to KCC?

In this article, we will discuss what happens in the rest of the process after filling the DS-260 form for DV process and how to get the second letter? i.e 2NL Letter. It is very important to know how to prepare further required documents asked by KCC before receiving the 2NL Letter. Because, if you don't pay attention to the preparation of supporting documents, you will not be able to get the 2NL Letter. As a result, your dream of going to America is shattered.

What kind of documents are asked by KCC as the further required documents?

Within 4 to 6 weeks of submitting the DS-260 form, you will receive an email from KCC's email address KCCDV@state.gov, mainly asking for 7 types of documents. The further required documents are briefly described below and also how to prepare those documents.

Passport Biographic Page: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of a currently valid passport. The biographic data page is the page with your photograph, name, date, and place of birth.

Birth Certificate: You and each family member immigrating with you must submit a scan of an original birth certificate or certified copy.

Marriage Certificate: If you are married, you must submit a scan of your original marriage certificate or certified copy.

Marriage Termination Documentation: If you were previously married, you must submit scanned evidence of the termination of EVERY prior marriage you have had. Your scanned evidence must be of an original or certified copy of one of the following documents:  FINAL legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.

Military Records: If you served in the military of any country, you must submit a scanned copy of your military record.

Police Certificates: If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a scanned copy of a police certificate from all countries you have lived in using below criteria:

If you ...

AND you...

THEN submit a police certificate from...

Are 16 years old or older

Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life

Your country of nationality

Are 16 years old or older

Have lived in your country of current residence (if different from nationality) for more than 6 months

Your country of current residence

Have ever lived in another country for 12 months or more

Were 16 years or older at the time you lived there

The country where you used to live.

Were arrested for any reason, regardless of how long you lived in that city or country, and no matter what age you were

The city and/or country where you were arrested.

Court Record: If you have been convicted of a crime, provide a certified copy of each court record and any prison record.

Important things to be remembered, before submitting further required documents:

Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send an explanation of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to KCCDVDocuments@state.gov, with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.

If your documents are not in English, you will need to translate them all into English. And the translation should be done by an official body, that is, a Notary Public. So take your birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. documents that are in Nepali or other languages, go to the nearest notary public and translate. Notary public staff will facilitate the translation. Make sure the information contained in the translated document is complementary to your original, and make sure it is notarized with official stamps. It should be noted that the notary public is only authorized by a limited number of organizations and lawyers in any country/state, so only translate your documents from the authorized organization. Otherwise, you will be deceived.

Make the police report from the Central Police Administrative Office as much as possible, whose recognition will be even stronger than local police station. And it may take a log time to get police report from local police station. All family members over the age of 16 must have a police report and use the language English. If you have been living abroad for more than a year, you will also need to get a police report from the country or state concerned. That can be a daunting task, but be patient. You can get the help of the concerned embassy for such a police report.

I would like to remind you again that the process for your 2NL Letter or interview will proceed only after you have sent the supporting documents to KCC, so be very careful before sending supporting documents to KCC. Once all the documents are ready, scan those documents and save them in .jpg or .pdf format. Name the files based on the information given below. The name of your file should mention the following things:

  • Your DV Case Number,

  • The Full Name of the Applicant, Whose Document you Scannel, and

  • The Document Name of Form Number.

For Example:

2021AF00918652_Shyam_Rai_Passport.pdf
2021AF00918652_Hari_Bhattarai_Birth_Certificate.pdf

Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the kccdvdocuments@state.gov email address.

Even if you have received an email from the address kccdv@state.gov asking for additional required documents, the email address to which your documents should be sent is: kccdvdocuments@state.gov, keep in mind. Otherwise your process will be wasted.

Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case. All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which the application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.

So, what kind of documents are asked by KCC as the further required documents? How to Submit Further Required Documents to KCC? Watch the video:

This way you can send the required documents to the KCC, and for more information KCC may ask further clarification even after sending the required documents. If so, the required documents will have to be prepared again and sent to KCC. For which, please follow the instructions given above carefully. In this way, you will be notified immediately after sending the required documents to KCC through automatic reply. But this will not be an important matter, the important matter is that within a month of sending the documents, KCC will send you an email with the information that the documents have been received. The second email after sending the additional documents is most important because, only now can you be sure that KCC has received all your documents and found them all correct and proceeded for the rest of the process. And the hope of receiving your second letter (2NL Letter) is being strong.

So, how do you get the 2NL Letter of notification for your US DV process and what it is like, what is mentioned in the 2NL Letter and how to make the necessary preparations? That will be discussed in the next article.

DV2021 Case Processing update of Nepal (Up to 5 September 2021)

The fiscal year of the DV 2021 visa issuance process is coming to an end on September 30. In this context, there are clear indications that not even 60% of the DV 2021 visas will be issued through the regular process, which is a matter of concern for the winners of DV 2021. As you may know, the US government court has not been able to give a promising verdict in favor of any of the DV 2021 lawsuit proceedings. In this sense, there is a question mark over the possibility of getting a visa for those who spend a lot of money to participate in the lawsuits. In the year 2021, 3801 Nepalis were selected for the DV lottery program, which is the second-highest number of DV winning country in Asia. According to the DV Lottery Charts' data published on 1st September, 31% of the winners have so far received visas, with 531 receiving visas and 522 being interviewed. The details are briefly presented in the table below. Total DV Winners   3801
